June 02 WECCMA Awards DayMay 18 The Stump Sheryl GameDue to some little pokes and prods that I was forced to endure on Saturday night, I have edited this web page, and there are at least four (4) changes.
If Sheryl can list the four, she wins a huge prize. No time limit, but I may change the rules if it tickles my fancy. (I just hope that I get the feeling back in my fancy actually. That poke and prod might have been set a little to high.) ...and you know something else???? For someone who has never signed the Guestbook, she sure does a lot of complaining! So there!
Monday June 02/08
The bell has rung, times up, the fabulous prize package goes back into the vault. Sorry for your luck. November 25 New First Prize - Visitor from far away.We don't quite know what the attraction in Kingsville is, but tonight we had a visitor from the Canary Islands.
For those of you who may not know, they are a group of islands off the coast of Africa that are controlled by Spain.
The Canary islands blew by Iceland (2800 miles), and logged in at a seat numbing 3850 miles away.
Sleeping volcanoes, museums, opera, symphonies, cactus, desert, snow, jungle. Spring like weather all year round.
This should make you want to book a flight:
"Outstanding are the potato stews or the ubiquitous and aptly named 'papas arrugadas' (wrinkled potatoes), which are boiled in extremely salty water and eaten with hot 'Mojo' sauce."
The Chinyero volcano had its last eruption only 90 years ago! But don't worry, Tenerife is a safe place to enjoy a special holiday anytime of the year.
Just my luck, 90 years, 1 potato, and bang.
Please note that Iceland still has the public spas c/w lifeguards, and that really should be on any traveler list.
Anyway, it was a pleasure meeting Jenny, who, by the way, is a great Country fan, and knows her music.
August 05 First Prize - Visitors From Far Away Last night at the Kingsville Inn, we had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful foursome who were really lost. because the two ladies were from Iceland, one guy was from England, and the other guy was from North Carolina. When I asked them how they ended up in our bar, they replied that they were stumbling down the street, and saw a Budwiser sign. Our kind of people. They were totally charming folks, and although they claimed not to like Country music, stayed right till the end.
By the way, if you ever meet anyone from Iceland, don't bother asking what their name is, because you will never be able to pronounce it. One name simplified to Elizabeth, and the other name simplified to Rhtmgfkdfklreiodklfdklgvfd. I think it spelled that right.
I googled Iceland for some background research, and found two interesting items of note. First, they have community bathing spas, complete with lifeguards!!!! Second, they have geysers, which is fitting because our band are old geysers as well.
Rhtmgfkdfklreiodklfdklgvfd took a lot of pictures throughout the night, and she said she will try to send a few of them to us.
Anyway, it was fun to have them in the crowd, and we hope to see them again.
June 18 Mike's Health ScareMike recently gave us a scare, and by refusing to feel sick, generally ticked-off the medical community.
We are pleased to report that after a small procedure, and a couple of fluid changes, he is responding well, and still knows his name. If he will ever play the violin again is another question, but that is an old joke that has no business here. The attached picture was taken just this past weekend, and you can see that while he may not have all his colour back, he looks good. (He does mumble about having his nuts around his neck, but they are easier to scratch in the morning) Update July 10 11:45 AM
Now we are getting concerned. He's always in a good mood, tells jokes, laughs, offers to sing more than 3 songs....wtf! The only problem is (new pic) - he appears to be loosing weight at a fairly rapid pace. May 14 Bert's BlingYesterday, while enjoying the lovely patio at the Chateau, I commented to Sheryl how much I liked the fishing lures she had in her ears, and asked what she was hoping to catch for supper later. (To me, that would be a fairly practical excuse for extra holes in the body.) But, Sheryl politely informed me that they were Dollar Store ear rings, and meant for ornamental purposes only, so what came to mind was that one sucker’s food, is another one’s bling! Then, in a blinding flash in the form of a left hook from Sheryl, the inspiration for Bert’s Bling was born. Dollar Store jewelry that can also be used as survival gear, or just for a good laugh. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be personally handling the procurement activities, and you can rest assured that only the May 12 The Chateau Tavern & RestaurantOver the next couple of Sundays, we will be trying our darndest to reestablish this location as a planned family destination for Sunday afternoons. We have several guests lined up, but if you play or sing, let us know and we will try to accomodate you.
Hope to see you there.
Monday July 30/07 - We gave the owners such a hard time, that they had to book a trip to Europe just to get rid of us.
We hope to be back at the Chateau in the near future. Stay tuned
Saturday Oct 06/07 - Great news!!! The owners have returned - relaxed, revitalized, reinvigorated, and ready to put up with us again. We start back on Sunday October 21/07.
May 04 Ellie MayWhile most musicians will bend over backwards to maintain a fan following, any bending for Ellie May will put you at the free clinic.
(Ellie May, Ellie Might, Ellie Will several times)
Please ignore anything she posts here until I can get her traced.
In the mean time, I have a file of pictures that show the many disguises that she uses.
If you see her, please run away and wash your hands. April 15 CrazyHeart in the USAThrough the magic of the internet and a Google search, we found another CrazyHeart Band, and since they have had the name for longer than we have, we won't get the military to invade or anything like that. Gail's son Rob has already been in touch with CrazyHeart, and the rest of us are hoping that they will accept him as a cross-border gift for the good of Country Music everywhere. (I wonder if we can just mail him???)
Here's a link to their website http://www.crazyheart.com/ - drop by and sign the guestbook and buy some stuff. |
